Trick or Treat and a Little Fall Decorating

Two more of my grandchildren,  Cade and Kobi.
They are showing off  their "moves" in their costumes
They will be going to their church fall celebration tommorow night.

I love this white pumpkin.  I had another one just like it and broke it.
My friend Ruth who knew how much I liked it gave me hers, so it means even more.

I got a little carried away on my table. There is not much room to set the table and eat.
But whatcha want....function or cute. I'll go for cute any day.

Last one, my kitchen Island.
Sorry the lighting is so bad. I should have waited until daylight, but
wanted to take get pictures while the kids were here and dressed.
I promise I won't bore you with grandkids every post, but they just kinda fit in
this one. Right??

I'm off to pack some more stuff to take to the Ventura Flea market Sunday. A few friends and I have 3 booths. We haven't done anything like this for a long time, but I am closing my antique booth on Saturday and hope to sell a bunch so I won't have to store it.  Next time I will show you pictures of my space at the Five and Dime before I demolish it and also of the Ventura show. There is information on the show on my friends blog: Victorian at Heart

This is Brooke, the youngest of my 10 grandchildren. I have made dedication dresses for 4 of the girls. One of my passions is making things from vintage linens, so I made this for her from two vintage cutwork pillowcases. I usually won't cut into anything that is in good condition, and these had some stains that I could work around. Even the panties were made from the pillow cases. The sleeves were cut to make use of the edging as was the skirt. I had to line it with another fabric to back the "cutwork" openings. She never stands still for long, so to give you a better look at the detail of the cutwork, I included the next two pictures. Now remember, I am not a photographer.....yet.

Earlier this month I made a trip to Kentucky to visit an aunt and cousin. I had read about old barns with quilts painted on them near the area I was visiting. (also in Tennesse and Ohio)
On the way from the airport to an area near Lexington, I spotted this one. You would not believe what my cousin went through backing up on the freeway so I could get this shot. Because of the fall color, it is my favorite. There is a one hundred and forty mile trail in Owen County, KY with over 150 barns with painted quilts on them. Some are far away from the road and hard to spot, but someday when I learn how to display more than one photo, I'll give you a few more.

After seeing all the beautifull fall decorations on the blogs I follow, I decided to add a picture to my first post of one of my favorite fall vignettes. I have been working at getting my fall decorations up all day. The weather has finally cooled and fall is in the air.

I have wanted to start blog for a long time to record pictures of the things I love and to journal about the things I love to do. I don't claim to be a photographer, but want to learn about it. I'm also not a great writer, but will just put down what's on my mind. I can never hope to be as good as some of the bloggers I follow. Soon, I will start a list of some of my favorite to share.
