On and Off my Sewing Table

 Starting with the "Off"
Other than the little doll cradles, this was my first week of sewing since way before Christmas.
Today I delivered
6 Engineer hats
4 Cloche hats and 3 vests

"On" my sewing table is 3 vintage reproduction napkins.
My friend MariEllen gave them to me and challenged me to find something creative to do with them.
They are quite large and my mind has been going over all the possibilities.
The obvious being a large pillow.

But then I got to thinking more along the lines of kitchen accessories.
Frankly, at this point I can't spend any money, so I shopped my stash,

finding some fabrics, ric-rac, ribbon and of course my favorite...buttons.
The colors look a little Christmasy, but  I had to work with what was on the napkins.
I will take you along as I start.
I'm thinking:
Towels
Potholders
Oven Mitt
Small Table Topper or Runner
Maybe...a Mug Rug...yes definitely a mug rug.
Oh yeah!! An apron.
Can you think of anything else?

Speaking of stash...I have a rather large stash. Fabric is one thing I can not seem to bring myself to part with.
I have tubs and tubs of it in the storeroom behind the workshop.
I love that I can go out there and almost always find just what I am looking for.
However, greens are another story. I am not a fan of green and use it sparingly. It seems to be the color I have the least of and what I have is ugly.
Oh well, I found something that would work this time.

New Neighbors

After 10 days at our friends house working on her remodel, Mr. SS and I got home late Sunday to discover we have new neighbors.

Joining Belle the gentle mare, the rabbit, the dog and the 30 plus chickens, we found

 the pregnant goat
(with twins, no less)

and Betsy (who has no name plate yet) the pregnant cow.

This evening when we came home from the grocery store the family was out feeding and cleaning up
"the farm" says Brooke
Lexi below is showing us how tame Lucy is.

Three year Emmy Lou is explaining to us that Lucy is "preganut". And yes she knows what that means.
Even Mama Olivia is out shoveling (you know what).
Ahhh!!  We love it all!!

Proving once again that...

It's a Pam Kitty Morning

Do you remember when a very special lady named Annelies of Sew Blessed shared her win of Pam Kitty Morning  with me?
Well, we both decided to join the Scrappy Plate Club at Bunny Hill Designs
We both finished piecing it over a year ago and mine was just taking up space in my sewing room because I had no place big enough to lay it out to baste it...until now.

My friend MariEllen insists that we stay in the Master Bedroom while Mr. SS has been remodeling her kitchen. One day, I just realized that the area in front of her bed would be the perfect size to baste my quilt.
So finally it got "sandwiched" and basted.
Let me tell you...I found muscles yelling at me for days after crawling around on the floor.
But TaaaaDaaaa
It is basted and ready to hoop

So I  got it in my 14" hoop and started stitching.

I really thought I was going to machine quilt this one, but, I just can't.
I have to hand quilt it.
This was what I did tonight. I quilted around the outside of the plate.

I had a little problem with the center, but I solved it and got the rest of the block marked.
No pictures , so will  just have to share that with you another time.

Happy New Year

Along with my wish to enjoy blogging more this year, I wish all of you

Happy New Year

My friend Suzanne at Notes From the Patch chooses a "word" for the year and inspired me to do some thinking about a word to to focus on throughout 2014.

I decided my word would be:

Trust

I want to trust completely in what the Lord has planned for me.
I want to worry less and trust more each day that He is in control of
my life,
my family's lives,
your life
and all that is happening in our nation
and the world.

As always, I am trusting that

God is Good!!
Life is Good!!
