Happy Birthday

Today is my sweet hubby's birthday.  The whole family usually celebrates his birthday on Super Bowl Sunday, (that could be another lengthy post) but with the Super Bowl being later this year we had a little celebration tonight. Due to some bad colds, only 2 of the grandkids came, but as you can see, they had fun.  This is Kobi and Cade....(Not sure I want to know what is in Cades mouth)

" What kind of cake do you want?" I asked.
"The one with the tan interior" he said.
Now I ask you, is that a typical man answer or what. So I said " Would that be spice, apple, carrot cake or what?" He said "I don't  know,  just a tan interior with that creamy white frosting" Well that helped as I knew he meant Cream Cheese Frosting.  It just happens I make all three of those with that "Creamy White Frosting."
So I guessed and made Spice Cake

Now I ask you...Is that a tan interior or what?

This is the spice cake recipe I use. It is a Paula Deen recipe that I think she serves for brunch with out the frosting.  I will include my frosting recipe too.

 Ingredients
1 (18oz package) spice cake mix
1 (4 serving) package instant vanilla pudding mix
1 cup sour cream
4 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup corn oil
5 tablespoons sugar
                                                      2 teaspoons cinnamon

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Grease a 10-inch tube pan. Combine cake mix, instant pudding, sour cream, eggs, and oil and beat together well. In a separate bowl, combine sugar, cinnamon . Pour half of batter into prepared pan and sprinkle with sugar mixture,  Pour the rest of batter into pan and sprinkle with the rest of sugar mixture. Bake 1 hour. Let cool and remove from pan.

                                                       Cream Cheese Frosting

                                                       1 stick butter (room temperature)
4 oz. cream cheese (room temperature)
                                                       1 box powdered sugar
                                                       1 tsp. vanilla
                                                       1 Tbls. milk

Hi Beverly !
Mmmmmm that cake looks good - I love to make homeade frosting, yum ! Hope your hubby had a great celebration....yes, super bowl next week -bring out the junk food :o)
You asked me about my paint...I used plain glossy black for the scroll and the mirror is Krylon Oil Rubbed Bronze - you can only find it at Walmart (at least in my neck of the woods) sometimes it is sold out and usually when they have it- only a couple of cans, so it is very easy to over look. Also the cap is dark so , again very easy to miss. I usually read the end caps to find where it is ! Good luck - keep trying !

Hi Bev, about the quartzsite swapmeet it is from mid Jan to Mid Feb. now would be great, all these rvs come in and park and sell everything from rusty ;things to health food crystal I mean everything spread out in that desert town, when they leave it looks like a ghost town...best food ever there..it is 14 miles from blythe, you can google for more info, we always had a blast bought alot of stuff and ate alot of food, I forget how many hundreds of rv sellers...plan for a fulllll day...you will love it....Phyllis

Yum yum! Can't wait to try that recipe. So funny about his description of it. Anything Paula Dean makes is delicious. I had her pasta with shrimp bake at a restaurant this past weekend. It was unbelievable. Now I just have to locate the recipe. Have a great day!

Beverly, happy belated birthday to your hubby. Never heard a cake called tan, but he is in construction, right?? then it makes sense..it looks yummy and I must write down that recipe. I will call it the Tan Bundt Cake, lol..looks great and that frosting looks delish.
Thanks for stopping by my blog, headaches are gone for now, I think they are mostly weather and wind related, sinus..and a migraine tossed in now and then for good measure.
Take care!
