Happy 4th of July

I usually have my patriotic decorations up before Memorial Day.  This year, I was getting ready to go to Kentucky, so put it off.  For sure, I was going to have them up by Flag Day.  I was just home from Kentucky and trying to play catch up. It's only 1 day until the 4th and still no decorations. No inspiration, really.  REALLY??
I babysat a lot this week and yesterday the kids were listening  and dancing to one of those kids CD's with cute little easy to sing songs when they started singing "Teddy Bears' Picnic"  FLASH!! My front porch...I had all of these things, just had to get them out and Voila...I had a "Teddy Bears' Picnic"

I really needed inspiration. This is what my boring front porch has looked like since I took down the Easter decor.
Spring Wreath...Hello, it's July already!!

Now my porch is singing "Teddy Bears' Picnic"
You can see my drip system at work. Without that my plants would surely die.

Here are the stars of my "Teddy" picnic.

Picnic Basket with faux Watermelon, grapes and bread. Where the heck is the faux cheese?
I must find some faux cheese...I feel a shopping trip coming on.

"Teddy Bears" Picnic" isn't really a 4th of July song, but the idea of a picnic is. Here are the lyrics to the song which were written by Jimmy Kennedy
I found it here, along with the music. I promise you it will stick in your head all day tomorrow.

If you go down in the woods today
You're sure of a big surprise.
If you go down in the woods today,
You'd better go in disguise

For every bear that ever there was
Will gather there for certain because
Today's the day the Teddy Bears have their picnic.

Every Teddy Bear who's been good
Is sure of a treat today.
There's lots of marvelous things to eat
 And wonderful games to play.

Beneath the trees where nobody sees
They'll hide and seek as long as they please
'Cause that's the way the Teddy Bears have their picnic.

If you go down in the woods today,
You'd better not go alone.
It's lovely down in the woods today,
But safer to stay at home.

For every bear that ever there was
Will gather there for certain because
Today's the day the Teddy Bears have their picnic.

Picnic time for Teddy Bears...
The little Teddy Bears are having a lovely time today.
Watch them, catch them unawares,
And see them picnic on their holiday.

See them gaily gad about.
They love to play and shout.
They never have any care.

At six o'clock their Mummies and Daddies
Will take them home to bed,
Because they're tired little Teddy Bears.

Hope all of you have a great 4th with your family and friends and I will be back tomorrow night (or maybe Monday) with more patriotic decorating...indoors this time. You didn't think I would stop at the porch, did you?
Did you know that the "Red, White , and Blue" patriotic decorating scheme has the longest season for decorating.  From Memorial Day to Labor Day.  So I guess I have time to enjoy mine even though I got a late start.

I will be linking to Susan's Metamorphosis Monday . Be sure to stop by there on Monday to see great before and after's and lots of inspiration.  Click on Susan's name or on the button on my sidebar to take you there.

Hi Beverly, your porch is delightful! I collect Boyds Bears, they are packed away still as I have no place to display them yet..I loved seeing what you did with your bears.

I hope you have a wonderful 4th and many blessings to you and your family

hugs

So cute. I know your grands will enjoy those and hopefully some passing neighbor doesn't find them irresistable! I decorated my front door too. This yankee doodle stuck two .89 flags in my ivy wreath and called it macaroni.

What a cute idea. Love the teddy bear picnic and I love your red front door. What color is it? I've been wanting to go red with mine for the longest time. Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment. Patty

You were a step ahead of me...not one patriotic decoration on my porch ( my always on display American flag had to remind the world that I am PROUD to be an American)!!!!
But....I am busy sewing new cushions and pillows for the garden and my newly retired husband is actually sanding and painting the furniture ( A HUGE first)!!!! I am hoping by this coming weekend we should be picture ready for a summer of grilling and enjoying!!!! XXX
