My All-Stars

I learned early on in the dating game with Mr. SS, that falling in love with him meant loving sports too.
He played football and baseball in college when we started dating and much of our "together" time was  me watching him play.  Then  a few days before we were married he signed a pro baseball contract with the St. Louis Cardinals and played for their minor league teams for 6 years. After that, he became a world class fastpitch softball pitcher.  We had three sons who (you guessed it) played football and baseball from the age of eight through college. My oldest grandson, Kyle, plays football, and my five year old Cade started T-Ball this year. If you think I have seen a lot of games, you're right. And I wouldn't change a thing.  I love cheering them on.

My 10 yr. old granddaughter, Drew plays softball now and was chosen for an all-star team this year. She has decided she wants to be a pitcher like her Papaw. He has been working with her all summer and says she has potential.

Three out of the last 4 weekends we have packed up the RV and have gone to All-Star Tounaments with her and her family.
Thought I would share some pictures from those trips.

Here are Drew and Papaw warming up before a game.

Here she is playing shortstop.

Drew

Mommy and sister Baby Emmy watching Drew play and trying to stay out of the sun.

Besides lots of game playing and game watching, these trips also mean lots of fun things to do.
There's swimming (Drew's Daddy, Brandon and sister Brooke)

Drew and sister Lexi playing "keep away" in the pool

There's lots of eating, of course.  Drew's sister, Camy and brother, Jack

Lexi again...she spent a lot of time embroidering also, which I didn't get a picture of, but will for a future post.

There's staying up late and watching Princess Frog.

Then, there was lots of sleeping too.
They lost on Sunday morning and we headed home, but it was another great family weekend.

Okay, I just had to throw this one in.(Not part of the trip, just taken today) I know, I am a shamless proud Mamaw.
Emmy is rolling over now. She was asleep on her back. I surrounded her with pillows and was sitting a couple of feet away sewing and I heard this little "Uh" sound, like "Look at me Mamaw" and she had rolled over and was peeking at me over the pillows. I flipped her back over on her back and she went right back to sleep.  Her Mommy says she is a little "piece of heaven" and I know she is.

What great moments and memories with all your kids, Beverly. I know you cherish every single one of them. I love Drew pitching to Papaw (my heart tugs!). What precious children you have to watch them all grow up. Little Emma will be right up there sooner than you think! Lovely pictures.
Hugs,
Sally
