A New Year and A Fresh Start

The view from our room in Laughlin NV., overlooking the Colorado River and Bullhead City, AZ.
We are here with our good friends Dave and Gail  (Victorian at Heart). We came over yesterday and took Historic Route 66 part of the way. It was a sentimental journey for me  because as a child, traveling with my family and pulling our  trailer we often traveled Route 66. Wish I would have taken a picture of the sign.
Speaking of signs...do any of you remember Burma Shave signs. My sister and I used to watch for them trying to make riding four in the front of our Ford pick-up a little less boring. They were signs with one or two words  that added up to a saying or joke or something. They were posted on fence posts and the last one would say Buy Burma Shave. Well, Mr. SS thinks I made that up, but I remember.

As for the New Year...Hope you all are blessed with the best New Year ever. We are thanking the Lord for pulling us through the last year and blessing us with health, a loving family and the support of good  friends. Also for providing shelter and food and all that we need.
We are thankful for the "fresh start" we have been given and are humbled by His love.

Last year my resolution (prayer) was to be able to be still and listen to what God has in store for me.
I stumbled along the way and tried to take back control, but for the most part I prayed more and waited more patiently for his answers and tried to listen. He has been there for us every step of the way.

My prayer for all of you is a New Year full of the Lord's blessings and "fresh starts".

(I must give credit to my friend Suzanne Notes From the Patch for the "fresh start" reference. She used it in an e-mail to me and it just fit our situation perfectly. Thanks friend.)

Happy New Year...it is so tempting to take back the reigns when God doesn't answer as quickly or the way we want him to. I love fresh starts, too.

Hi Bev. Tell Mr. SS I remember The Burma Shave signs too, from summer road trips in the family station wagon. Those were the days (: Happy New Year and may it be full of fresh starts and abundant blessings for you both xo

I remember them too. They were a fun diversion from long road trips. We're on our way home before the "fresh snow" stops my "fresh start". Safe travels home to you all. Get rested and ready because I have some fun sewing projects planned for you! Happy fresh new year!

It was fun traveling Rt 66 and brought back memories to us too. It is special to be able to celebrate a New Year and count our blessings with you. The Lord is good and has been and will continue to be our strength whatever comes our way this year. We are blessed having you as friends.

Bev,
As the new year looms ahead of us a phrase from scripture come to mind - "Look not Behind Thee." And may I add, as we go forward with faith, the best is yet to be. Happy New Year to a lovely gal. It's been fun getting to know you through your blog.

Hi sweet friend, so glad you have having a great time in Laughlin, we love to go there and have not been for a long, long time..sounds like a field trip to me!

Fresh start, love how that sounds. That is my plan to. My word for 2011 is SIMPLIFY. I need to declutter my home and my thoughts...I need to listen to God more and ME less. I am where I am for a reason and I need to try to understand that and stop wanting to be somewhere else. Tears here..but lots for both of us to look forward to..And I love your refrence to PINK. We will find out on the 10th! And I will be up soon to visit and quilt..
love you
Barb

This morning as I drove my hour commute to work driving into a glorious sunrise, I couldn't help but thank the Lord for the trials in order to really appreciate and savor the fresh starts!! :D

I so appreciate your sweet testimony!
