It's Her Birthday

Emmy Lou turned 3 today.  We jokingly say 3 going on 13. She says and does things that no three year old should be able to say and do. I guess when you are the youngest of 6, you have to grow up fast to keep up.

She loves to pose. Can you tell.
Sitting on her new big girl bed that her Papaw and Daddy made. You can't see the bed here, it is still in the living room, but I'll show you after it gets set up in her room. She shares a room with sister Brooke and the bed is part of a really cute pair. The other one is in the shop being painted tonight.
She got a swimming suit and goggles from her other Grandma. I could not resist showing you this picture. I laughed until I cried. She loves these and would not take them off. I was laughing so hard, I had tears. She looked at me seriously (if you can be serious looking through those glasses) and said. "Stop laughing at me".
Eating her favorite Pscetti dinner.
She is sitting in her Daddy's high chair.  It is a Jenny Lind and was maple and  matched his crib and cradle.(that was the "thing" in the 70's.) I painted it white and all the grandkids used it at my house. When we moved into our RV small cottage, Emmy inherited it.

I have been working the last week on a sort of "prom dress" for the daughter of a family friend.
It has really given me fits, or in Mr. SS's words  it's "Eating my lunch". Whatever...I'm not going to give in to it.
So today, I took the day off and had some fun.
All my grandkids have a Minkee pillowcase with their name on it. Somehow, I had never made Emmy one,'
So...this is hers with her nick name on it.

I know...I said the Valentine bib was her last one, but it's her birthday and I needed a break from the "prom dress"  I've mentioned before that whipping up a bib (or pillowcase) is always rewarding when I've been working on something that isn't showing much progress.
I was tempted to put Happy Birthday or her name on it, but I thought that might be pushing my luck with my machine, which has been humming along since it's last checkup.

I know it was supposed to be Pinterest Try Thursday, but with the "prom dress" and Emmy's
Birthday being today, I just didn't get a post done.
I promise a couple of tries next week.
I already have a couple of things in mind. One is my Mug Rug for March, which will have to have a bunny because I don't usually do anything for St. Patrick's Day and Easter is the last day of March.

I can't believe it is almost Easter already. We had a couple of nice spring days.  I dug a couple of short sleeve shirts out of storage. (When you live in a RV small cottage, you have to pack away each seasons clothing.) I washed windows and then of course it rained.
Today I needed a sweater again.
Not complaining though. Hot weather will be here all too soon.

Happy Birthday to my youngest grandchiled.
Emmy Lou
You keep a smile on my face and a song in my heart.

You have inspired me this morning with your colorful happy little creations. Of all the sewing I've done in my life it's those quick easy peasy ones that I enjoy most. Nothing complicated that "eats your lunch" (ha) just fun creativity - trying this button or that ribbon or this fabric combination. I've had a very busy and in some cases stress filled week, seeing these sweet projects for Emmy makes me smile and reminds be how important sewing and creating is in my life. Thank you dear friend for sharing. Happy Birthday to Emmy Lou!

What a little doll and those goggles...adorable. You have inspired me to put away my paints and pull out my sewing machine. Especially since the weekend promises to be a cold one! Patty

This post is over the top on the cuteness scale -- that bib is just too cute! What a lucky little girl Emmy is! Loving this rainy day -- taking your lead and making some pillowcases and fun stuff today. I'm getting frustrated with the quilt I'm quilting!

I always love seeing a new entry on your blog. Emmy Lou is beyond adorable. You know what amazes me the most? It's only three weeks until Easter and you haven't mentioned starting on the dresses. Are you making Easter dresses for all the girls this year? If so, I am so impressed that you can do all that in such a short amount of time.

P.S. Guess what... a miracle fell in my lap (in the form of an unexpected plane ticket) and I'll be coming with my mom to visit you this Easter! I'm so excited to see you all!
