Ladybug, Ladybug

"Fly away home. Your house is on fire and your children are all alone."

Always seems sad to me, but that's what I was taught to say as a child when I caught a ladybug.
I taught it to my kids and grandkids.

It seems most little girls love lady bugs...some more than others.
A couple of months ago, a friend, Enid, from the monthly meeting I go to at Strawberry Patches, asked me to make a Girly Girl purse for her niece.
This is what I made and blogged about it back in February, I think.
I expressed that that was the only Ladybug fabric I could find.

The next month she brought in several pieces of  lady bug fabric and got scissors, cut them in half and shared them with me. I had told her most of my granddaughters loved ladybugs too and she wanted me to have them
Isn't that just sew sweet?

It just happened that I had purchased a child's apron pattern  from SP  with the cutest Ladybug aprons
So, I made two aprons from the fabric (I still have tons left) An over all lady bug print with matching red with black dots. I had the black dot already. It was a fun fast pattern
I will let Enid pick one of them for her niece and the other will got to 4 yr. old Brooke who just loooooves
Ladybugs.

There wasn't quite as much of the other two coordinating pieces.
This piece just screamed baby bib at me.
Last night I got inspired to get out my embroidery module for my machine (it hasn't worked well for a long time).  I just had to try it and it stitched beautifully without a hitch.
I think I held my breath most of the time it was stitching.
Mr. SS nearly jumped out of his seat at about midnight when I yelled
Woo-Hoo
It worked.

I even put a real buttonhole instead of the velcro I usually put behind the button.
Emmy just rips off the bibs with velcro, so a tie or button is the only way to go with her.
It's not only bibs she rips off...she doesn't like to wear clothes either and is often running around the yard...well "nakey, nakey" as she says.  It must be a two year old thing.

Tonight, I took dinner to the family that lives in our front yard and the bib.
Emmy said "Awww.  Thank you Mamaw" and got to wear it for dinner.
About halfway through the meal she picked up the bib and said "It has ladybugs"
to anyone who was listening.

Sooooo...I'm sewing again after two weeks with out touching my machine.
It felt so good  to hear my machine hum, and hummmm it did. I had not had a chance to use it since it came home from the hospital and WOW what a difference. Guess it rewarded me for having it tuned up and decided a pretty embroidery was in order. Will let you know how the next one goes. Hopfully I won't be growling.

..."since I came home from the hospital"? My heart is pounding. What happened...to whom? (We'll talk about the cute bugs later).

LOL. Phew. Just chalk that up to jet lag. Your machine was in the hospital at SP. LOL What a difference "it" and "I" makes.

So. Those aprons are adorable, but I'm still shaking at the thought of you in the hospital and now I'm starting to cry at the thought so I'm going now to pour a cuppa coffee. Obviously I need it.
XO Suzanne

Ladybugs make me happy; they're such a treat to find. Everything you make is so darn CUTE! If I had a granddaughter, I'd have your machine a-hummin for me too. Glad you're all back together where you belong (: xo

Oh, my. I'm sure glad Suzanne cleared up that it or I business. When I first read this, "I" is what I read, too. Just now saw "it". Whew!
Glad you are healthy and back to sewing all your cute stuff. Love it!
