Pinterest Try Tuesday # 8 and a Little more

Since I haven't found time to post about a little gift for Drew who had her 13th birthday last week, I'll combine that with my next Pinterest try.

On Monday before her birthday, I asked Drew what her favorite colors were. I thought I knew, but things could have changed since she was turning 13.
Nope, she said brown, blue and green.

So, off I went to my favorite place to shop.
Strawberry Patches , of course. I was greeted with a smile when I walked in the door by Andy. I told her what I was looking for and she pointed out Annette, who just happened to be standing in front of the browns.  She helped me find a brown with blue and green...who knew that would be so easy?
Then she went right to a green and a blue that contrasted beautifully.

Anyway, my point in telling you about my shopping experience is:
Even though I could have done it myself (years of quilt store work experience),
it is so nice to walk in and let someone greet me with a smile and help me.
That's always the experience at SP.  I hope your favorite store makes you feel as warm and cozy as mine does.

Okay, back to the real reason I'm here today.
These are the fabrics we picked.

I used some of the things I like about the pattern above and combined them with the way I have been putting together  the wrist zipper bag I have been making for a while now.  The wrist zipper bag is for Drew's kindle and will hold the cord and adapter too.

You know me...I had to find something to make with the scraps I had left from the bag.
When I saw this on Pinterest, I knew that I wanted to make it with the those scraps
I have had a thing for owls for a while now and the small size of this makes it so darn cute.
The flicker link takes you to the lady who made this one.
The next link is where she found the pattern.

Here is my version. It is a small coin purse.
Now that I see these in the same frame, I think I need to move my buttons up a little...or not.
It has a velcro closure. One of those magnetic snaps would be great and look better, but me being me, I wanted to use what I had.
