Catching Up!

Same old story...It's been awhile since I have posted.
Guess I've been going through a little "blogger's block".  I really haven't been doing a lot to blog about and the weather has been so crazy, I can't seem to get good pictures...but what else is new, huh?
Last week, I spent all week getting paperwork ready to go to our accountant. Not that we have so much anymore, now that we don't have a business, but I always wait until tax time to clean out my files, then I have several months of filing to do too...I know...soooo bad.
But last Friday I got the taxes done and was so relieved it was done and that we get a little back, that just for fun I hit two Goodwills, a Big Lots and a Dollar Tree on the way home.
Only spent 4.25, but found a couple of things that made my little shopping spree worthwhile.
Thought I would look for something I could use to decorate a little for Easter. No luck with that.
I hardly ever thrift anymore, I really have no room for anything, but I always look for linens, they don't take up much room,  and I wasn't disappointed.

I got 4 of these...25cents each.
I wish I had taken a picture before I washed them. Dirty, dingy, stained.
An overnight soak in Biz fixed that.
I don't think they had ever been washed, because they were a lot bigger before I washed them.
Aren't they pretty. I will use them with my Easter decoration,
For just $3.00 I found this denium dress.
It is medium weight and will be perfect for a couple of purses.
Lots of red stitching detail not only on the front;
but also on the back.
Look at the cute red stitched button hole.
I like the original jean type buttons, but I make make one purse with cute polkadot covered buttons.

My on going project is coming along.
I have all my blades sewn together and a few sewn to the white backing squares.
I wasn't sure whether I wanted a yellow center,
or a red one, so I pinned one of each.  I think I really like the red best, but am afraid when I finish the quilt all you will see is the red center.
(The blue you see behind the square will be the large outer border.)
I am hand stitching my plate to the background, so it is taking awhile.
But as you know by now...I love handwork.
I finally decided on the yellow for the center and stitched it on.
I'm a little slow, but you have to see the one my "partner in crime",  Anneliese
has almost finished.
See her beautiful quilt  @Sew Blessed
We both joined the Scrappy Plate Club at Bunny Hill Designs.
You can still join in the fun too. Click here to find out all about it.
Or you can click on the button on my sidebar.

One more thing you might want to know about are these cute little bird clips.

I first saw them on the Pam Kitty Morning blog...here.
I just had to have them, and I quess several other readers did too.
Finally a reader told her where she could find them and she shared the link.
You can go to Amazon here to find them.
I think they were around $8.00 for 16.
They are perfect for chip clips too, or holding papers together, or many other things, not to mention hanging out clothes.  I know...not many people hang out clothes anymore, but there is nothing fresher than sheets and towels that have hung in the sun to dry.
What do you think??

I have given you several links, so get to clicking to see some really cute things.

What Will $5.00 Getcha at Good Will

On Saturday, I was on my way home from measuring for curtains for a nursery and as I passed by a Good Will store, my car just "pulled" right into the parking lot. I haven't done any thrifting for a while and really didn't plan on stopping...You all know how strong that "pull" can be, right?

I've been reading on some of your blogs about finding Vintage sheets, so for $3.00, this one really caught my attention. Further examination shows it is not Vintage, because the label says Shabby Creations, but this pink sheet with pink flowers and little green leaves found it's way into my cart. It is like new and full size. Lots of fabric...for what I don't know, but I have a few ideas
Next this dirty little shade for 1.00  got me. I do know what I'm going to do with it. I have been wanting to cover one of these with some of my embroidered linens, using  cute little crocheted trims along the edges. Paint that ugly knob at the top or change it.
I've decided to do a tutorial on this, so you can learn right along with me.
Another 1.00 find. I have big plans for this too, and will show that to you later. First I'm thinking it needs to be white.

Not bad for a late Saturday afternoon thrifting stop and $5.00, huh??

Break Time

I took a little break this morning to go to an Estate sale with friends. My friends Ruth and Gail and I started out and got there just as they opened the doors. It really wasn't great as Estate sales go, and prices were high, but it's the thrill of the hunt....right?
This is all I found there, but the prices on these at 1.00 each was good and even though the embroidery wasn't perfect, I love the crocheted edgings and I always look for that.

Since it was Friday, we couldn't find any other sales in the area and it was still early, so we decided to check out the closest GW and Salvation Army stores.
At the Salvation Army, I found these plates.

They were a bargain as priced, but when I got to the register they were 1/2 of that.
They say Japan and Stainless on the back and probably aren't worth much, but I didn't pay much and they just had my name on them. Can you tell?
Oh, and the little bird was one of my treasures from the GW. He was dirty and scuffed and Gail and Ruth both laughed and asked if  I was going to put him in the dishwasher.....no not me.....I had read somewhere to use a toothbrush and toothpaste and as you can see, he is shiny and white and smells good too.

This old white mixer bowl came from Salvation Army too. I just can't resist these and yes, I can put it in the dishwasher. (Dishwasher/bird story on Blue and White post on March 6th)

Oh, and this cute little potholder came from the Estate sale....$1.00

We were home before noon with our treasures and I got back to my Easter Dress sewing.
Guess I'd better get back to that now too. They are turning out so cute, can't wait to show them off.
Polka Dots were the right choice.
